Your Sexual Health team with Pixeltree ahead of testing expansion

Leading the way in revolutionising the UK’s understanding of sexual health, Your Sexual Health was founded on a few simple principles:

  • People aren’t able to get answers about their sexual health fast enough.
  • Access to sexual health screening services and clinics aren’t widely available to those who need it.
  • Not everyone with a sexual health concern feels comfortable going to a clinic for tests.

And they’ve stayed true to those principles; growing to over 100 clinics in the UK, launching tests that can be done at home, and running a home visit service to bring clinics to patients directly.

Your Sexual Health’s Goal

With an exciting new partnership promising a huge expansion in test availability, the team at Your Sexual Health have teamed with Pixeltree to design and build their new service option into the website, maximising its site visibility and its commercial potential.

Project Background

To ensure their launch hits the ground running, the team at Your Sexual Health knew they would need to address how they communicate the new service clearly across the website and make the relevant changes to their multitude of customer journeys.

While reviewing the scope, the team have been left with 3 big questions:

  1. How do we easily communicate the differences between the new service and the other options Your Sexual Health offer for testing so customers can find the option that suits them best?
  2. How do we integrate the new service into the current site and all of the ways it displays services to our customers, ensuring consistency and optimum conversions? e.g., through the ‘Find My Test quiz’, through the search of available clinics and their individual product pages etc.
  3. How do we provide clear follow-up information to guide the customer from purchase to test results for their new service, ensuring a positive experience?

Our Approach – From Discovery to Launch

To reach our targets of optimising the new service’s availability, digital conversions and overall user experience, we’ve devised a multi-stage plan spanning discovery and UX all the way to development and launch.

1. Discovery and definition

A mission critical stage in the project, we’ll be working closely with the team at Your Sexual Health using collaborative workshops to gather early insights of the scope and scale of the project.

This will be the foundation of the project; giving everyone involved a shared understanding of the existing site infrastructure and journeys, uncovering new considerations and revealing the big questions that need answering.

Customer journeys will be a key phase here; allowing our team to analyse the multiple entry points for customers into Your Sexual Health’s buying funnel and ensuring the new service is distinctive from clinic and postage options which have overlap.

From there, we’ll unite the teams toward creating solutions, before wireframing the stages in the process that we can take forward into something high fidelity later.

2. UX Design, Prototyping and User Testing

With the wireframes in hand, it’ll then be time to build something tangible that can be used to gather actionable insights. Converting the wireframes into interactive prototypes, we’ll build interactions that are consistent with our findings in discovery.

From there, we’ll be ready to gather the opinions of Your Sexual Health’s target demographic through a series of user tests. This will help us uncover user sentiment on key features and usability, helping define gaps in the proposed prototype and allowing the team to iron out up to 85% of usability issues.

3. Development and Launch

Working prototype and feedback in hand, we’ll then bring the new service to life in code using our team of developers.

Tackling each page and its functionality, we’ll then apply quality assurance and user acceptance testing to ensure it meets our high standards ahead of launch.
